Big effect

Turmeric slashed CRP in a five-day trial — but only in COVID-19 outpatients, and ginger worked just as well

This triple-blind RCT suggests turmeric can rapidly lower inflammation in people who are already sick with COVID-19, but the effect was identical to ginger, the study lasted only five days, and it's the first of its kind — so don't assume the same benefit for healthy people or longer-term use.

In a 144-person triple-blind trial, COVID-19 outpatients who took three 500 mg turmeric tablets daily for five days saw significantly greater drops in C-reactive protein (CRP, a key marker of systemic inflammation) than those on placebo. Ginger produced the same anti-inflammatory effect, and both were superior to placebo — but the results come from a short, clinical-population study that hasn't been replicated yet.

Where this fits in the evidence

This is among the first studies we've indexed on Turmeric for Reduced C-Reactive Protein Levels — treat it as an early signal until more research accumulates.
