Diffuse Esophageal Spasm

Diffuse Esophageal Spasm (DES), also known as distal esophageal spasm, is a condition marked by uncoordinated and dysfunctional contractions of the esophagus, leading to difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), regurgitation, and sometimes chest pain that mimics heart disease. The exact cause of DES is often unknown.
