Eisenmenger Syndrome
Eisenmenger syndrome is a condition that arises from a long-standing congenital heart defect, where an initial left-to-right cardiac shunt leads to high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) and ultimately reverses to a right-to-left shunt, causing symptoms like cyanosis and shortness of breath. Advances in fetal screening have reduced the incidence of this progression.
