Kashin–Beck disease
Kashin–Beck disease (KBD) is a chronic osteochondropathy that affects mainly children ages 5–15, causing joint stiffness, pain, deformities, and growth retardation, and it is most prevalent in regions such as northeastern to southwestern China, Southeast Siberia, and North Korea. Despite its widespread impact, particularly in Tibet, the exact cause remains unknown, and diagnosis is typically based on clinical and radiological examinations due to the difficulty in histological identification.
