Leukoplakia
Leukoplakia is a condition characterized by thickened, white patches that form on the gums, insides of the cheeks, bottom of the mouth, and the tongue, and is strongly associated with chronic tobacco use and smoking. While these patches are noncancerous, leukoplakia is considered a potentially malignant disorder due to its association with an increased risk of cancer.
