Mitral regurgitation

Mitral regurgitation (MR), also known as mitral insufficiency or mitral incompetence, is the most common form of valvular heart disease, where the mitral valve fails to close properly, causing blood to leak backwards from the left ventricle into the left atrium during ventricular contraction. This condition leads to inefficient heart function and various associated symptoms.
