Postdural Puncture Headache
Postdural Puncture Headache (PDPH) is a severe headache that occurs within 5 days of a lumbar puncture due to low cerebrospinal fluid pressure caused by leakage from a puncture of the dura mater. The headache, often described as "searing and spreading like hot metal," involves the head, neck, and shoulders, and is accompanied by symptoms like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and hearing loss, worsened by movement and alleviated by lying down.
