Are supplements essential for the body ?
I always thought once you do the blood work and doctors tell whatever vitamin you lack and you just get supplements for it. But there is so many videos online where people recommend take this tablet or that as an everyday supplement. Mostly is the fish oil, vitamin C and D. But I just wonder what do you take for long term health and wellness. Or is just improving lifestyle better diet, exercise, meditate, sleep
Supplements are not universally essential for everyone; their necessity largely depends on individual dietary habits, health conditions, and nutritional needs. Generally, it is recommended to meet most nutritional requirements through a well-balanced diet rather than relying solely on supplements1. Whole foods provide a wide range of nutrients that supplements might not fully replicate, such as the fiber and phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables1.
Supplements might be beneficial or necessary for certain individuals, such as those with dietary restrictions, medical conditions affecting nutrient absorption, or increased nutritional needs due to life stages like pregnancy2. For instance, vitamin D and calcium supplements can be important for bone health, especially in individuals who may not get enough from their diet or sun exposure3.
While supplements like fish oil, vitamin C, and vitamin D are popular, they are not necessarily required for everyone. Their necessity should be assessed based on individual health evaluations and guided by a healthcare professional4.
Improving lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, meditation, and sleep are foundational for long-term health and wellness. A healthy lifestyle works synergistically with any supplements taken, ensuring holistic wellness and prevention of nutritional deficiencies1. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen to ensure its safety and appropriateness for your needs4.
