In this session, a user seeks advice on supplements for recurring lower back and hip pain post-surgery. Suggestions include turmeric, omega-3, glucosamine, magnesium, and vitamin D. The importance of consulting a healthcare provider before starting new supplements is emphasized.
Hi all, has anyone found anything that helps with reoccurring lower back and hip weakness and pain?
I had surgery 2 years ago and although I am fine most if the time i live in fear oI'm not able to provide personalized medical advice, but I can share some general information about supplements that people sometimes consider for managing pain and supporting joint and muscle health:
-
Turmeric/Curcumin: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric is often used to help alleviate pain and inflammation associated with various conditions1.
-
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These are commonly found in fish oil supplements and can help reduce inflammation, which might be beneficial in managing pain2.
-
Glucosamine and Chondroitin: Often used for joint health, these supplements may provide some benefit in reducing pain and improving function in those with joint issues3.
-
Magnesium: This mineral is important for muscle function and relaxation, and it might be beneficial if your pain is related to muscular tension or spasms4.
-
Vitamin D: Deficiency in Vitamin D can sometimes lead to musculoskeletal pain, so ensuring adequate levels might be helpful5.
It's important to discuss with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications. They can help determine what might be appropriate for your specific situation.
