My overarching research interest is: how do microbial biofilms work? This multivariate aggregation of microbial cells so-called “biofilm” exists in any type of environment, host, and industry. I try to understand how this microbial community interacts between them and their surroundings through a combination of molecular methodologies (PCR, qPCR, next-generation sequencing, fluorescence microscopy or CLSM, electron microscopy, and transcriptome analysis). More specifically I am interested in examining the direct and intimate relationship between the activity of the biological community, the impact of their interactions, and how the biofilm reacts to the human host or environmental surroundings.
