Alicia Ortiz Moreno

Instituto Politécnico Nacional

Alicia Moreno Madariaga is a lecturer at the Ferrol Engineering Polytechnic School at the University of A Coruña (UDC). The first stage of her research career focused on the completion of her doctoral thesis (2005), supervised by Antonio Foces (University of Valladolid), on a novel line of research in the field of semi-rigid steel connections. In 2007, the Structural Analysis Laboratory (LAE) was established, a research group which she joined and in which she continues to work in the field of steel structures. During this period, she participated in several contracts and research projects funded by companies and through national programmes. She has been a member of the Laser Industrial Applications Laboratory (LAIL) since 2013, during which time her work has focused on laser processing of materials and additive manufacturing. She has recently started researching micromachining by laser ablation and its application to materials in heritage conservation and industrial fields. Her research is currently focused on the ablation processing of 3D surfaces. She has recognized for 12 years of international-quality research (2 “sexenios”).
