Chong ZHANG, Professor , Chemical Engineering Department, Tsinghua University Professor Zhang Chong's team has been committed to introducing high-throughput automation technology and data learning strategies into the field of biochemical engineering, proposing the concept of genotype phenotype association data-driven strain design. Through high-throughput genotype function and industrial phenotype feature data testing and learning, high-quality genotype phenotype association information can be obtained at low cost, achieving efficient strain rapid creation. Based on the above concept, propose a high-throughput parallel DBTL strategy to achieve low-cost testing and data learning for thousands of genotypes; Invented high-throughput testing technology and equipment for bacterial culture process data based on microfluidics, significantly improving the efficiency of obtaining industrial phenotype data of bacterial strains; On the basis of the enabling platform for genotype function and phenotype feature data, a new strategy for creating a next-generation cell factory system driven by genome-wide genotype phenotype association data has been proposed, successfully constructing a series of high-performance bacterial strains with independent property rights and achieving industrial applications. So far, more than 150 academic papers have been published with an h factor of 37. In the past 5 years, 53 papers have been published in journals such as Nature Chemical Biology and Nature Communications; Invited to give more than 10 invitation presentations at domestic and international conferences organized by the American Society of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology, the Japanese Society of Biotechnology, the Korean Society of Biotechnology and Biotechnology, and the Chinese Society of Microbiology; 20 Chinese invention patents have been applied for and 19 have been authorized, of which 8 have achieved achievement transformation; Lead the development of 5 national standards for microbial breeding. In view of its contributions in the field of microbial strain design and construction, the applicant has successively won honors such as the Young Yangtze River Scholar from the Ministry of Education, the Young Asian Biotechnology Scientist Prize from the Japanese Society of Biotechnology, the Outstanding Young Scholar Award in Fermentation Engineering from the Lunshiyi Education Foundation, and has won the Gold Award at the Geneva International Invention Expo (3/3), the First Prize for Technological Invention from the China Light Industry Federation (3/6) Second Prize for Technological Progress (3/6). The original equipment has been successfully commercialized and exported overseas, and the original strains have been applied in traditional fermentation and biopharmaceutical industries, creating significant economic and social benefits.
