My major research interest is gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal inflammation and the impact that it has on diarrheal diseases. Most of my work involves studies of biopolymers with affinity to GI molecules and receptors. I also have a long-standing interest in gaseous mediators (H2S, NO and CO) and its effects in gastric damage and associated conditions. I am particularly interested in identification of novel targets for antidiarrheal therapies, and the subsequent development of such therapies.
