K. Balamurugan
Centre For Environment Architecture & Human Settlements
Studies from Balamurugan’s lab revealed the impact of bacterial pathogenesis in a model host system (C. elegans) starting from the physiology, cellular and biochemical, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and on the health-span events such as aging, gut-microbiome, obesity. His research findings revealed the conserved molecular events during pathogen interaction but also provided a handy tool to study aging, obesity and wound healing related phenomenon for future therapeutic applications. Currently, his research focuses on metabolite-protein interactions and involvement of small RNAs during host-pathogen interactions.
