I am a scientist with a broad interest in the study of molecular mechanisms by which natural products and their derivatives regulate gene and protein expression associated with specific diseases. My group at Dexa Laboratories of Biomolecular Sciences (DLBS) studies how perturbing metabolic dysregulation using drugs and natural products can lead to prevention/treatment of illnesses. We employed a proprietary screening system called TCEBS (Tandem Chemistry Expression Bioassay System) to screen for natural products against specific target genes/proteins. This approach has recently led to several products for treatment of CV, metabolic and GIT diseases as well as cancer currently being registered and patented in a number of countries. In addition I am also interested in studying biological and biosimilar molecules and their formulation into biological pharmaceutical products. In order to investigate their clinical characteristics, I also perform clinical trials to prove their safety and efficacy.
