Dr. Sakhile KS Masuku has PhD in Public Health, a Senior lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Eswatini. She completed a leadership training at Virginia Commonwealth University in Public Health Policy and Management under Humphrey Fellowship. She has published widely in scholarly peer reviewed journals and has expertise in public health, nutrition and health, epidemiology and research. In the course of her professional development she completed Health Research Training Program and mentorship in Maternal and Child Nurse Leadership. She has experience in various consultancies and coordination of research grants. Dr. Masuku is currently part of a team working on one collaborative project with Makerere University School of Public Health on a project; “Partnership to Enhance Analytical Capacity and data use in Eastern and Southern Africa (PERSuADE) designed in response to the Global Fund RFP TGF-20-089 which is aimed at enhancing technical support for analytical capacity and data use for HIV, TB and Malaria. She recently completed another collaborative project between the University of California-San Diego Campus and the University of Swaziland, Department of Community Health Nursing Science, funded by the World Bank/Sexual Violence Research Initiative Award for Innovation in Preventing Gender-Based Violence and is towards completion of “The WHO-PEN@Scale Consortium”. The latter is a four-year collaborative project in which the Ministry of Health has secured funding from the European Commission as well as technical support from an international consortium of leading European and Swazi research and implementing organizations, to support and monitor the decentralization of non-communicable diseases care and management from tertiary to primary care. Dr Masuku inclination in public health is community health systems and public wellness programs. She is keen on collaborating with health professionals around the globe as well as young public health graduates in promoting community health service. Dr Masuku is serving in several committees including being chair the Faculty’s Research Ethics Committee, member of the Animal Research Ethics Committee in the University of Eswatini, she is a Chapter head for the Southern African Policy and Development Nexus (SAPDN), a Country National Representative for the East, Central, and Southern African College of Nursing and Midwifery (ECSACONM) . She has been a member of the Tripartite Advisory Technical and Management Committees for Occupational Safety and Health in the Ministry of Labour.
