Uyen Huynh pursued postdoctoral research and is currently serving as a Research Associate in Professor Melissa Zastrow's laboratory at the University of Houston, USA. Her research focuses in the field of bioinorganic and biological chemistry. Her projects aim to uncover mechanisms for how extracellular and intracellular metal ions affect the human gut microbiota using intestinal and probiotic Lactobacillaceae species. Uyen Huynh received her Ph.D in organic chemistry from the University of Houston under the supervision of Prof. Don Coltart. She developed and optimized new synthetic methods to enable the total synthesis of structurally complex, optically active drugs and biologically active natural products.
