Across 3 studies, all reported neutral small-sized effects on length of hospital stay. Most studied dose was high-dose oral (3 g tablets four times daily) but only one study reported dosing. Effects were consistently non-significant across populations with sepsis, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, or community-acquired pneumonia.
Caveats: Evidence base is small (only 3 studies) — conclusions should be considered preliminary. Many of the included studies did not reach statistical significance — effect may be smaller than the predominant direction suggests.

Secondary outcomes, including hospital length-of-stay (LOS), intensive-care-unit (ICU) LOS, and mechanical ventilation, exhibited mixed results. Notably, heterogeneity and publication bias were observed in hospital LOS analysis, necessitating cautious interpretation.
