Organic Brain Syndrome

Organic Brain Syndrome, also known as organic brain disorder or organic mental disorder, is a nearly obsolete term from psychiatry used to describe neurocognitive disorders characterized by disturbances in cognition, mood, consciousness, and behavior due to known physiological causes, rather than psychiatric ones. It was initially used to differentiate physical origins of mental impairment from psychiatric disorders, but this distinction has been deemphasized in modern medicine.
