Pueraria Mirifica

Safety profile

4 studies reporting safety data2 increased-risk findings

Pueraria Mirifica has been associated with increased C-reactive protein (doubled in one study) and a 15% increase in triglyceride levels from baseline (p<0.05) in separate studies. Across 4 clinical studies, the majority of adverse event comparisons found no significant difference versus placebo, including mastodynia, vaginal spotting, dizziness, liver function, endometrial thickness, breast tissue effects, and blood/renal markers. Two studies reported overall tolerability as mild or with no significant side effects, and no serious adverse events were flagged.

Caveats: Evidence is limited to short-term studies (up to 24 weeks); long-term safety is not established. Studies were powered for efficacy rather than safety, so rare adverse events may not be detected. Most trials were in healthy postmenopausal women; safety in other populations is not characterized.
