A 26-year-old female seeking advice on vitamins and supplements to help improve her immune system and manage recurrent Candida infections. Discussion includes the relevance of magnesium, B complex, omega-3, and vitamins D3 & K2 for her specific health concerns.

  • Are these essential for my concerns?
26, female. I’ve never ever taken vitamins.. I don’t want to over buy as I don’t want to give myself something I don’t need. I have a very bad immune system, I’m currently suffering with cervicitis which is inflammation down below and it’s a result from constant Candida infections. I’m negative for all.. but constantly getting Candida overgrowth. I do take probiotics since finding this out. I also have low lactobacilli.. I did a blood test in the UK and was low in folate and b12. I didn’t take anything for this at the time as I was moving abroad to Cyprus, Europe. Now I’m here I did another blood test and my levels are fine.. so I don’t know how they resolved themselves since mine were extremely low ! These are the vitamins Im looking at and currently in my basket. Please let me know if you think I don’t need or do need more of.

  • Based on your health concerns and current supplement considerations, here's some information you might find useful:

    1. Magnesium Citrate - Magnesium is essential for numerous bodily functions including nerve and muscle function, and it may help with overall immune system health. It's generally safe to take, but it's best to ensure you're not already getting enough from your diet before supplementing.

    2. B Complex - Since you mentioned previous low levels of folate and B12, a B complex could be beneficial. B vitamins play a crucial role in energy production and maintaining healthy brain function and immune health. Life Extension B Complex would likely include folate and B12, which you previously needed.

    3. Super Omega 3 - Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which could help with inflammation associated with conditions like cervicitis. They also support overall cardiovascular and immune health.

    4. Vitamin D3 & K2 - Vitamin D has been shown to potentially reduce Candida infections; a study found that vitamin D supplementation could reduce instances of Candida colonization1. Probiotics and vitamin D might together help maintain a healthier microbiome, balancing Candida levels in the body. Vitamin K2 works with D3 to help calcium absorption, supporting bone health.

Given your concerns with Candida infections, probiotics and vitamin D could be helpful together. It might be worthwhile to consult with a healthcare professional to adjust dosages and ensure you are getting the right amounts tailored to your needs, especially as your blood levels for certain nutrients have changed over time.
