Sherif M Karam

Prof. Karam obtained his Medical Degree from Egypt (Alexandria University), PhD from Canada (McGill University), and post-doctoral training (University of California at Berkeley, USA). Dr Karam moved to Kuwait as an Assistant Professor (Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University) then to the United Arab Emirates (UAE University) as an associate Professor. Since 2006, he has become a full Professor. Dr Karam’s early research led to the discovery of stem cells and their immediate descendants in the stomach. His current research focuses on the role of stem cells in carcinogenesis, regeneration and tissue engineering. Dr Karam mentored research projects of several medical students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. He is a member of several editorial and reviewing boards. He contributed to the organization of national and international conferences. He was invited to give talks in many international scientific meetings. Dr Karam received several honors and awards including Shoman Award for Arab Researchers.
