Cognitive impairment

Cognitive impairment is a broad term used to describe any disruption or barrier to cognitive processes, which include memory, attention, planning, reasoning, and several other aspects of mental function. It encompasses a range of severities from mild forms associated with normal aging, like Age-associated Memory Impairment and Cognitive Decline (AAMCD), which do not impact daily functioning, to more severe forms linked to conditions such as dementia.
