Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder, previously known as manic depression, is a mental illness characterized by intense mood swings between emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression), significantly impacting behavior, energy, and activity levels. During manic phases, individuals exhibit elevated moods, impulsivity, and reduced need for sleep, while depressive phases are marked by feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and high suicide risk, often associated with other mental health issues such as anxiety and substance use disorders.
