Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders

Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGID), also known as disorders of gut-brain interaction, encompass various idiopathic conditions that affect different parts of the gastrointestinal tract, characterized by persistent and recurring symptoms like diarrhea or constipation due to visceral hypersensitivity and motility disturbances. The most common of these disorders is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
