Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis Bi-07

Safety profile

3 studies reporting safety data1 increased-risk finding

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis Bi-07 has been associated with increased odds of nausea in one study (OR 4.0, P = 0.005). Two additional studies reported no specific adverse events and described the probiotic as generally well tolerated over periods of up to 5 months in healthy adults. No serious adverse events were flagged across the three studies.

Caveats: Evidence is limited to three clinical studies, with only one reporting a quantitative adverse event finding; studies were likely powered for efficacy rather than safety, so rare events may not be detected. Most participants were healthy adults, and long-term safety beyond 5 months is not established.
